Nominations
Every year in December, Premier Medical Systems in partnership with medical associations celebrate doctors in Nigeria by organizing the Physician of the Year (POTY) awards. The 2023 Physician of the Year awards builds on the success of previous editions and the award presentation will take place as scheduled below: Date: 1st December 2023 Venue: Marriot Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos Time: 5:00pm
Awards will be presented in the following categories: Voting category and non-voting category.
- Physician of the Year (Public sector): Physician working in the public sector who has achieved high standards in the practice of medicine and is looked upon as a role model by their peers.
- Physician of the Year (Private sector): Physician working in the private sector who has achieved high standards in the practice of medicine and is looked upon as a role model by their peers.
- Physician of the Year (Diaspora): A Nigerian doctor who graduated from a Nigerian University and has been working abroad for at least ten years and who has distinguished his or herself in his/her chosen field.
- Young Physician of the Year: One (1) doctor of less than 10 years post medical qualification who exhibits high standards in the practice of medicine and dentistry and is being looked upon as a role model by his/her peers.
The following awards will be awarded to a facility:
- Special Recognition Award for Excellence in Mother and Child Care
- Special Recognition Award for Excellence in Cardiovascular Care
- Special Recognition Award for Excellence in Surgical Care
- Special Recognition Award for Excellence in Oncology Care
This year's edition introduces two new awards in the voting category:
- Chief Medical Director of the Year award
- Medical Director of the Year (Lagos State General Hospital)
The nominees for these 2 new categories will emerge through a "Peer recognition election"
